The Trump–McClintock Connection: Follow the Votes
Presidents make promises. Congress decides which become law.
As we approach these important mid-term elections, we should know, how often Congressman Tom McClintock supported Donald Trump’s agenda with his important vote on behalf of us all?
Let’s look at his voting record:
The Scorecard:
|
Period |
McClintock’s alignment with Trump |
| First term — 2017 snapshot | About 90% |
| First term — 2019 snapshot | 96% |
| First term — 2020 congressional session | 94% |
| Second term — through September 2026 | 96% |

The pattern is clear: McClintock has frequently voted in line with Trump’s stated positions. But alignment isn’t automatic, and the details matter.
Take tariffs, for example. McClintock has said he believes free trade is best for our economy and has expressed doubts about tariffs. But in February 2026, he voted to support a House rule that put off a challenge to Trump’s tariff policies while Congress waited for the Supreme Court to weigh in.
In other words, even when McClintock has reservations about a president’s policies, he sometimes votes to support the president’s actions anyway.
So here’s what we want to know: How often has McClintock backed Trump, when has he disagreed, and what have those votes meant for the people of our district?
That’s why we’re following the votes.
Read the record. Read what the Congressman says about his decisions. Then decide for yourself.
