Michael Masuda Enters Race for CD-05
Democrat Michael Masuda has entered the race against Tom McClintock for CA Congressional District 5!
Michael grew up in Amador County, attending Sutter Creek Elementary, Ione Junior High and Amador High School, and attended Cal Poly San Luis Obisbo where he obtained his degree in Electrical Engineering. He later moved to Washington DC, where he worked as an engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. In 2021, he was selected for the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellowship and joined the Department of State as a civil servant under the Biden administration. He has now relocated back to Amador County with his young family, to start his campaign for Congress representing his home District.
As an engineer, Michael has dedicated his life to solving problems. Rather than only addressing a problem’s symptoms, he tries to understand the cause in order to fix it. He will bring an engineering mentality to Congress – one that is not afraid to tackle the hard and politically uncomfortable problems. He will start addressing the big problems like reducing the threat of wildfires, increasing access to affordable healthcare, investing in education for kids and young adults that prepares them for meaningful careers, and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to find a job that pays a living wage.
