For several years, I’ve enjoyed the free concerts that are hosted by the Calaveras County Arts Council.
The first two concerts are already over (sigh) but I wanted to let you know about future events. These are completely free concerts. The biggest problem is that there is a shortage of seating, so I’d encourage you to take your own chairs (or a blanket). You can also bring food or drinks (check the venue) and these are family-friendly events.
So here are the events. I tried to include links for each band. You might also do a search on Facebook or Youtube for additional information.
- June 28: Wolf Jett (folk, blues, Americana), Angels Camp Museum garden (located behind the museum), 753 S Main St, Angels Camp
- July 5: Sky Kings (California country, rock ’n’ roll), Shutter Tree Park, Mokelumne Hill
- July 12: The Poison Oakies (country western), Mountain Ranch Community Park, Mountain Ranch
- July 19: Calaveras Community Band (Americana & Broadway), San Andreas Town Hall
- July 26: Nathan Ignacio (“One man band,” folk, blues), West Point Community Park, West Point
- August 2: Slade & Elky, Those Windburn Brothers, (country swing, hillbilly jazz) Murphys Community Park
- August 9: The Mountain Crew Band, (old time rock ’n’ roll), Copperopolis Town Square, Copperopolis
- August 16: The Kool Shifters, (R&B, country), Rail Road Flat Community Park, Rail Road Flat
This spring, the Arts Council held their Ride 4 Art which provides money to support art programs in the schools. They also organize the Artist Studio Tours in the fall (a great source for holiday gifts),
If you’d like to support the Calaveras County Arts Council, you can do so through this link. Membership starts at $35.
